Introduction

After the successful project of providing scholarships to 24 young applicants through the procedure of written exams and other tasks which took place, with great success, at the premises of the Academy in Markopoulo, the Approved Training Organization FAS Pilot Academy continues the same project this year as well providing 24 scholarships to young men and women who wish to make their dream come true. FAS Pilot Academy, by having a high sense of responsibility and solidarity will complete a series of written exams and tasks which will determine the 24 scholarship’s winners.

Based on the above mentioned and driven from the need of contribution to the society after the crisis of the pandemic, COVID-19, the financial support to the low income families, as long as the selection of students possessing high performances and abilities, the approved aviation training organization FAS Pilot Academy announces the scholarship schedule for academic year 2021-2022, which addresses to all interested graduates of high schools, colleges and universities between 18 -28 years old.

Specifically, the approved aviation training organization FAS Pilot Academy provides the scholarships which are mentioned in this announcement, regarding the complete training package of Air Transport Pilot License [ATPL(A) Integrated Course] for the issuance of the commercial pilot license, after a successful competition following the order of success.

For the dispensing of the above mentioned scholarships will be taken into account the following:

  • Performance in both exams and activities, which will be organized and conducted by a competent committee of the approved aviation training organization FAS Pilot Academy, as it is decrypted in this announcement.
  • The financial status of the applicant or his/her family.
  • The interviews which will be conducted by FAS’s competent committee.

The scholarships address to graduates of high schools, colleges, universities and other equivalent institutions having as main priority to cover part of the training cost of the basic package of FAS Pilot Academy for the ATPL(A) Integrated course, as it is uploaded to the official site of the Academy www.faspilotacademy.aero (See the course here: ATPL(A) Integrated Course)

Scholarships

The approved aviation training organization FAS Pilot Academy for the academic year 2021-2022 provides a variety of scholarships equals to the amounts of 3.000 up to 35.000 Euros to 24 candidates in order to cover part of the officially announced training cost as it is decrypted below:

Scholarship Colossos
It is provided scholarship equals of 35.000€ to the first passing candidate who fulfill the following requirements:

  • Concentration of the biggest score of credits after its evaluation in written and other tests cumulatively with the other criteria, according to paragraph «Evaluation Procedures and Credits» of this announcement.
  • Holds valid EASA medical certificate class 1, issued from the Hellenic Airforce Hospital.
  • Has submitted all the mandatory documentation or true copies of them verifying their legitimacy.
  • The applicant accepts all the terms of this agreement and the training procedures followed by the Academy.

Scholarship Rhodes

It is provided scholarship equals of 15.000€ to the second passing candidate who fulfill the following requirements:

  • Concentration of the second bigger score of credits after its evaluation in written and other tests cumulatively with the other criteria, according to paragraph «Evaluation Procedures and Credits» of this announcement.
  • Holds valid EASA medical certificate class 1, issued from the Hellenic Airforce Hospital.
  • Has submitted all the mandatory documentation or true copies of them verifying their legitimacy.
  • The applicant accepts all the terms of this agreement and the training procedures followed by the Academy.

Scholarship Lindos

It is provided scholarship equals of 10.000€ to the third passing candidate who fulfill the following requirements:

  • Concentration of the third bigger score of credits after its evaluation in written and other tests cumulatively with the other criteria, according to paragraph «Evaluation Procedures and Credits» of this announcement.
  • Holds valid EASA medical certificate class 1, issued from the Hellenic Airforce Hospital.
  • Has submitted all the mandatory documentation or true copies of them verifying their legitimacy.
  • The applicant accepts all the terms of this agreement and the training procedures followed by the Academy.

Scholarship Kamiros

It is provided scholarship equals of 5.000€ to the next nine passing candidates who fulfill the following requirements:

  • Concentration of the nine bigger scores of credits after the third passing candidate after their evaluation in written and other tests cumulatively with the other criteria, according to paragraph «Evaluation Procedures and Credits» of this announcement.
  • Hold valid EASA medical certificate class 1, issued from the Hellenic Airforce Hospital.
  • Have submitted all the mandatory documentation or true copies of them verifying their legitimacy.
  • The applicant accepts all the terms of this agreement and the training procedures followed by the Academy.

Scholarship Ialyssos

It is provided scholarship equals of 3.000€ to the remaining 12 passing candidates who fulfill the following requirements:

  • Concentration of the bigger scores of credits after the ninth passing candidate after their evaluation in written and other tests cumulatively with the other criteria, according to paragraph «Evaluation Procedures and Credits» of this announcement.
  • Hold valid EASA medical certificate class 1, issued from the Hellenic Airforce Hospital.
  • Have submitted all the mandatory documentation or true copies of them verifying their legitimacy.
  • The applicant accepts all the terms of this agreement and the training procedures followed by the Academy.

Evaluation Procedures and Credits

Scholarships committee For the examination and comparative evaluation of the applications which will be submitted for the granting of the scholarships, the approved aviation training organization FAS Pilot Academy has structured a scholarship committee consisted of five members which will be instructors and assessors, the three of them will be from the Academy and the other two will be from an airline. The committee can be renewed or supplemented by a joint decision of the School Council and the boarding of the Organization.

Submission of supporting documents – personal interviews

The applicants who will submit on time their applications to the organization, either by post (hard copy) or electronically through Academy’s official website, will be called from the Academy, between the time periods of 1 June 2021 until 16 September 2021 in order to present themselves to Academy’s premises at Markopoulo, Attica for a personal interview with the scholarships committee.

The Academy taking into consideration the great effort that all people and communities make in order to cope with the current situation and by realizing the problems that the majority of people are facing, wanting to be helpful will conduct interviews for the above mentioned scholarship programs to other big countries apart of Athens.

In order to facilitative applicants who are interested to participate to the scholarship contest and always having as priority the safety of all of us, you may find in details in the table below, all the cities that the Academy will visit in order to perform the interviews to those who wish to participate to the scholarship. Please note that there might be some changes to the dates depending on the government measures at that time regarding the pandemic. The starting point is the island of Rhodes, the place where the Academy was established and the last city is Athens where the Academy is based now. The submitted applications that meet the terms and conditions of the announcement will follow the prescribed evaluation process until the final selection of the list of successful candidates.

Participation to written exams

The candidates will be scheduled, for their participation to the written exams and interviews, from the scholarships committee. The material of the exams and all necessary information will be uploaded to Academy’s scholarships site scholarships.fas.gr.

The Scholarships Committee has the responsibility for the selection of the topics, the correction of the written exams, the results of the interview and for the smooth and unassailable conduct of the evaluation.

The written exams for the scholarships which will be given for the Academic year 2021-2022 will be conducted at FAS Pilot Academy premises in Markopoulo, Attica from 17 September until 27 September 2021 according to the schedule which will be announced to Academy’s social media and uploaded to FAS’s scholarships official site.

Evaluation of the contest procedures

After the completion of the written exams, the responsible assessors will evaluate all the exams, based on the credits. The announcement of the results for the written exams will be proclaimed on 1 October 2021. Eligible is considered any applicant who collects an average score of seventy five (75) from all the courses.

Evaluation criteria – Credit calculation

The criteria taken into account for the evaluation, final enlisting and selection of the grand aided are:

  • The performance in the written exams where each competitor will participate, possess a coefficient scale of 0,6. Each subject of the written exams is graded on a scale of 0 to 100 with an integer score
  • The performance of the simulator trials in which each competitor will participate, possess a coefficient scale of 0,7. Every trial is graded on a scale of 0 to 100 with an integer score
  • The personal interview with the evaluation committee possesses a coefficient scale of 0,4 . The grade scale is 0 to 100.
  • Prizes and distinctions from national contests possess a coefficient scale of 0,2. The grade scale is 0 to 100.
  • The total declared income of the family or the applicant itself for the financial year 2020.This only applies to candidates who are protected members of their parents and do not have their own income, it possesses a coefficient scale of 0,1. The grade scale is as follows: a. Up to 10.000€: 100 b. From 10.001€ up to 20.000€: 90 c. From 20.001€ up to 30.000€: 80 d. From 30.001€ and above: 0

List of successful candidates – List of priority candidates

Successful candidate considers being the candidate who has at least a 75% to every one of the relevant categories, interview, written exam, and practical test. Following the evaluation and crediting of the applicants, the committee will compile a list of success rows for the first 24 successful candidates and 10 of the runners-up. The runners up will cover any open positions which will be created in case of non-receipting the scholarship due to failure in the medical examinations or non-attendance of the interested applicant. In case two or more applicants have the same number of credits, the bigger grade of the Flight Simulator trial takes the highest validity.

Medical examination at the Hellenic Air force general hospital

For the first 24 successful candidates and the first 10 runners-up the Academy will book an appointment to the Airforce hospital for the issuance of their initial medical certificate class 1, which is mandatory for the enrollment to the Academy and granting the scholarship. The candidates who are already holders of an EASA medical certificate class 1, either from Greece or any other EU country, it is accepted and they do not need to re issue it. The fees for the issuance of the EASA medical class 1 are covered from each candidate.

Material of the exams

The material in which applicant will be examined will be uploaded to the official scholarships website of the Academy (scholarships.fas.gr) on 1 July 2021.

Application Form - Credentials and Documentary Evidence

All necessary enrollment documents must be submitted together with the application form and are the following:

  • Copy of Certificate of completion of High school.
  • Copy of Birth certificate or passport or any other document or id that certifies applicant’s identity and date of birth.
  • Copies of recognized foreign language proficiency certificates.
  • Any other document certifying distinctions or awards from student competitions, sports or art events
  • Copy of the last financial statement to certify the declared annual income of the family of the prospective candidate for the year 2020.
  • Photograph in electronic form, passport size.

The application forms shall be submitted to the administration department of the Approved Training Organization FAS Pilot Academy or electronically at scholarships.fas.gr.

Commencement date of the registration forms: 26 April 2021

Ending date of submitting the registration forms: 15 September 2021

Method of Payment

The scholarship is activated after the enrollment to the Academy for the ATPL(A) Integrated course 2021-2022 and after the submission of the EASA medical certificate class 1. The amount of each scholarship package covers the last installments of each package and is valid of this specific annual year. The scholarship cannot be offset with any other training or service and cannot be transferred for another year of to another applicant.

Conclusion

Beyond the above decrypted scholarship packages the Approved Training Organization Fas Pilot Academy do not provide any other financial support.

The scholarship committee checks the performance of the applicants through specific procedures which the committee has defined.

The committee has the right to decide the withdrawal or the termination of the scholarship whenever they decide that there are serious reasons (mostly referring to the performance, the ethos, the righteousness, the financial situation of the applicant, etc), which enforce it or are not followed the terms and conditions of the training agreement.

The scholarship committee preserves the right to approve the granting of scholarships to students of excellent performance without their participation to the above mentioned trials and contests, assuming they have been rewarded from international competition committees.

For any other issues, which may come up during the implementation of the scholarship and are not mentioned in this announcement will be resolved by the scholarship committee.

The committee reserves the right to amend the terms and regulations of the scholarship at any time.
